November 29th Update

Dear 3A Families,

Thank you to everyone who came out last night to make our 'Evening of Gathering and Giving' so special. Jess McCann and her dance group did not disappoint! Ryan Willert, our artist in residence, as well as Elder Pablo Russell emphasized the 'Buffalo teachings' and the meaning to our students here at SVS.  We look forward to a continued focus on using the Buffalo teachings in our day to day lives. Here are some links to videos from last night:

We have moved on to Measurement in grade 3! This week we learned about centimetres, metres, and kilometres. We learned that 100cm = 1m, and 1000m = 1km. We also learned to use rulers and metre sticks to measure things in the classroom. Quiz on Monday!

In Literacy, we continued working on Daily 5 activities and read more of “The Borrowers”. In December, we are going to start a unit on procedural writing - how to do something. Our project will finish with a “How To Build A Snowman” booklet!

Please remember to be checking in with your child about their Homework Folder. Many students have not handed these in, and they are a great way to keep on top of topics we’re learning about in class.

Here are the upcoming dates for December:

December 11th & 12th - The Show Must Go On (6:15pm each night)
December 18th - Crime Not to Read, & Report Cards Go Home
December 19th - Last day of classes
December 20th - PD Day
December 23rd to January 3rd - Winter Break

Have a wonderful weekend!
Mrs. Sinden
