October 11th Updates

October 11th 2019

Dear Grade 3A Families,

We had such an amazing week! Students worked on their communities flip book in Social Studies, which tied in nicely with our City Planners workshop on Thursday afternoon! We also talked about Indigenous sharing circles to prepare for our amazing Indigenous artist Ryan Jason Allen Willert Thursday morning.

In Math we have been working on Place Value - comparing numbers using base ten blocks and expanded form. To practice over the weekend students can work on remembering that the fish eats the bigger number! We are moving onto adding and subtracting 3 and 4 digit numbers soon, so that’s another skill you can be practicing at home.

Our read aloud story “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” is getting very exciting! We are hoping to finish the book before October 25th so we can watch the movie that day. Halloween is coming up soon so we are starting a persuasive writing next piece about a haunted house!

It’s A Crime Not To Read returns this coming week, and students will be able to borrow books from the public library! Next month we are going to the Country Hills Library, so please let me know if you are able to volunteer for the trip! It will be Tuesday, November 19th in the afternoon.

Finally, thank you to everyone who has been placing Scholastic orders! You may still do so until 4pm on Tuesday, October 15th! Click here to order online: scholastic.ca
